Today we went over Regions and cultural landscapes. This is another part of Human Geo World regions and Thinking geographically. Those are the categories for the next unit in my human geo class. A region is an area of earth defined by one or more distinct characteristics. You could say new York city could be a region because of it historically and tourist areas. Another example of a region could be like out west where there are lots of mountains and canyons. Next we have Cultural landscapes. A cultural landscapes is the combination of physical and human characteristics that uniquely define places and areas. An example is New York(again). And example of a human characteristics would be the statue of liberty and a physical characteristic would be how New York is surrounded by water. That covers Region and Cultural Landscapes and now i will cover and important Quote mister shick stated today. "The designation of a region can be lager than a point but smaller that the planet. This is saying that you cant define a place smaller than a point because that is the smallest a place can be defined and we cant define a place larger than the earth because as we know now there is no other places or civilization anywhere other than earth.
