Today in western civ we read three to four pages in our textbook about Alexander the great. It was very interesting to see how someone as young as twenty could lead an entire army and eventually take of Persia and King Darius. Here are the notes that I took on Alexander the great.
- Macedonia was located north of Greece and had a rough terrain and climate
- Macedonians were a rough people who lived in mountainous villages instead of city-states
- They were looked down upon by the Athenians.
- Alexander the great became a king at the age of twenty years old
- He trained from a young age learning how to use a sword, ride a horse, and control an army
- He learned science geography and literature under the famous teaching of Aristotle
- Alexander wanted to complete his father's mission of invading Persia and conquering all of its lands
- Alexander started his invasion by taking out the first fleet of Persia's army
- After that many, more troops came and Alexander was outnumbered
- He won the second invasion by outsmarting the large troop and going straight for the king which resulted in them fleeing
- The King( Dorian) tried to make a deal with Alexander but it was a trick
- The King tried to attack Alexander but the King fail for the second time resulting in Alexander taking over all of Persia.
