Today in class we took more notes Hellenistic culture in Alexandria. Alexandria was named after Alexander the great. He was a great general who went undefeated his whole life. He became king at the age of 20. He defeated the Persians and then the Indians. He named a city in the middle of Asia after himself. He later died at the age of 32 of a fever. This city was filled with knowledge and philosophy. There were many philosophers who lived there and had their opinions about the solar system. On though that the earth was the center of the universe and his name was Ptolemy. Another said that the sun was 300 times bigger than the earth. These discoveries fulled the culture in the area and made people really think about the world around them.
