Today in class we decided if we were going to take the test or not and we voted to not take the test. after that we did some questions from the book.

Here are some notes: Luther and reformation- the church weakened and vulnerable -socially- Renaissance emphasizes on the secular and individual challenge church authority -painting press helped spread ideas -politically- some rulers began to challenge the church politics power. -economically- northern merchants resorted paying church taxes to Rome. What wring with the church -corrupt leadership -renaissance- era popes spent extravagantly on personal pleasure. -pope Alexander the 5th fathered several children (not married) -some priest and monks were poorly educated -priest drank to excess, many gambled most indulgences -selling of indulgence -Johann tetzed was a monk -sold industrial;gencrs rebuild st. Peter cathedral.

Today in class we took some notes in our new chapter four our last test.This powerpoint included stuff like art and architecture and how it started to become an important part of peoples lives after it had been seemed to be lost. We also talked about how people would pay an artist to paint murals of themselves and how they would usually like to be put in religious situations like the nativity.

Today in class we took the test. I thought it was the easiest test that we have taken all semester. I think on some of the tests in the past during this semester have focused on too many little details that we didn't really focus on in class and should have been focused on the stuff that we did spend a lot of time on. Overall I think that i did pretty good today and i hope it shows in my grade.

Here are some of the notes we took today and tommorow we take a test and i hope that i do well. Here are my notes many Germanic kingdoms that succeeded the Roman Empire were reunited under Charlemagne empire. why does it matter. Charlemagne spread Christian civilization throughout northern Europe. setting the stage. M iddle ages= medieval periods.  AD 476-AD 1453 Roman Empire started and conquest of Constantin by Turks. M edieval Europe is fragment. new society. C lassical heritage of Roman  beliefs of the Roman Catholic church. C ustoms of various Germanic tribes.  5th-century invaders  overrun western half of Roman Empire causing disruption of trade/ downfall of cities/ population shift to rule areas. germanic kingdom. P rovided with food and weapons. S mall communities -no gov. for large areas. L oyalty to the lord of the manor.

Here are some notes from today middle ages- the gradual decline of the Roman Empire. franks- a germanic people that held power. monastery- church built religious commanded. secular- a worldly, power involved politics. Carolingian dynasty- family that would rule the franks from 751 to 987 charlemagne- or Charles the great ruled the kingdom. 3. classical heritage of Rome.  the beliefs of roman catholic church.  cuctom of venous germanic tribe. 4.disruption of trade. downfall of cities. population. helped build roads and held the poor.

Today we took a test and I failed. This was the first big test that I have ever failed and it really sucks. Mr. Schick's class has become increasingly hard and it's frustrating when you don't succeed. I'm just gonna have to work harder next time.

Germanic Kingdoms Of Western Europe  the Germanic barbarians -barbarian war loads and their families who assimilated into roman culture became the "nobles" -germanic tribes who ruled former roman land sought to conquer and assimilate other barbarian people who lived beyond the frontiers and were still pagans. More on Germanic kingdoms -the angles and Saxons for Denmark and northwestern Germany invaded Britain and assembled the native Britains. -most of the Anglo Saxons converted to Christianity in the 7th century. -the most powerful Germanic tribe was the frutas. -real power with the mayor of the place were royal officials and nobles. eastern empire -byzantium -west was getting divided while the east was doing fine. -Justian came to power in 527, reunited by reconquering western territories. -succeeded but then retook soon by barbarian tribes, plus massive plague depopulated much of the west.

Here are my notes: Constantinople issues the Edict of Milan Roman empire and Christianity are linked to power and control 180 AD Rome has problems Economic ( Taxes are too high and food supply is low) Military ( Frontiers were hard to patrol, Loyalty declined and mercenaries appeared.) Diocletian divided the empire into two Greek-speaking east Latin-speaking west 324 AD Constantine becomes emperor of both sides of the Roman empire Moves capital from Rome to Byzatium (turkey)

Here are some notes we took today The appeal of Christianity grew because...embraced all people,men and women,enslaved people,the poor (and noble),gate hope and power appealed those who were disgusted by imperial Romans, became offered personal relationship with loving god, promise external life after death.  Here are a couple other things: Gave hope to the powerless,  Appealed to those who were disqualified by imperial Rome's decadence offered a personal relationship with loving God,  Promised eternal life after death  Comments

Here are some notes we took today Most of what we know of Jesus comes form the gospels Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. "Gospel" means "good news" Jesus was a Jewish itinerant preacher in Judea who set himself apart from others. Jesus taught God's personal relationships to each human being message of love. Jesus' follower believed he was the "messiah" who had come to end the world and bring the truly faithful into the kingdom of God. Jesus was believe to be part human and part son of god Jesus was deemed a threat to roman rule and crucified, through his followers believe  he rose for dead. 12 followers of Jesus attempted to read the word his teaching know as apostles. Paul to Tarsus was a jew who became a follower of Jesus after after miraculous vision on road to Damascus. paul was well traveled, he helped found church in many places, and he kept in with these new Christians by letter.

Today in class we have a free period and our sub was Mr. V. He kinda reminds me of Mr. SChick because Mr. V's personality is so similar. I worked on homework and studied for a test.
