Today we talked about Population and birth and death rates. At this point right now there are about 7.5 billion people in the world. 90% of the worlds population growth is coming from developing countries. In places like India it is not uncommon to have more than three kids. This is why they are ranked second in the world for population. On to birth and death rates. In 1804 there was only 1 million people in the world. By 1927 there was 2 million. In 1999 there was about six million people in the world. About every 12 years another million people show up on the planet. Crude birth rate is the number of births per 1000. The crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1000. These were the key terms for the day

TEST DAY!

Today we had a test for chapter on in human geography. I think that i did pretty well but there was one problem that i dont remember going over in class. I cant remember what the question was but I dont remember seeing it. I am very proud of myself because i have four A's and three B's. I feel that I did very well for my first quarter in high school. I calculated my GPA as of now( the test has not gone in veracross yet) and i have a 3.95 GPA. That is pretty good but I wish it was a little better. I am going to work extra hard next quarter so that I can get a 4.0 or better.

Tomorrow we have a quiz and I think i will do very well. I like mr shicks class and to me it is easy except for the pop quizes. The marking period ends Thursday and i have very good grades so i am happy. Today we also went over some review questions to help us get ready for the test. These were some of the review questions. Why do us companies make stuff over seas?   Because it is cheaper because most countries either don’t have a minimum wage or it is very low compared the United States. Peter vs macerator map? The Peter map is more accurate What does think global act local mean? It when you are trying to change something and if every local community does it, it will have a global effect How many times zones are there? 27 What is the circadian cycle? It is your bodies internal clock What are the top threee countries in population? China, India, use What states does the prime meridian go through? In the usa we have minimum wage and in countries over seas they dont or if they do it is very low What does think global, act local mean and why is it important? This means to help or change something in your community and if every community does it it will change on a global scale. It is important beacsue it could be the solution to global problems like global warming.

Today in human geo we didn't really talk to much on the actual academic subject. As we all found out today Mr.Shick had to put down his dog Micheal dogless. When I heard this I was very surprised that mister shick showed up to school the day after his dog died. I know how hard it can be to lose a best friend and a companion. I send my condolences to you mister Shick. Other than that we talked about how it is much cheaper to make things in other countries. Everyone of us in the class looked at the things on our desk to see where they are made. Almost everything we had on our desk was from another country. This showed us How much we rely on other countries.

TODAY IN HUMAN GEO WE WENT OVER GLOBALIZATION. THIS IS WHEN WE AS PEOPLE ARE LESS LIKELY TO CHANGE ON A GLOBAL LEVEL.  THIS IS BECAUSE IN TODAY WORLD AND AGE WE ARE SO MUCH MORE INDEPENDANT THEN WE WERE MANY YEARS AGO. IF WE WANTED TO BE MORE UNIFORM OR THE SAME AS A COUNTRY IT WOULD BE VIRTUALLY IMPOSIBLE BECAUSE THEY WORTLD IS SO DIFFERENT AND EVERYONE IN IT IS A INDEPENDANT PERSON. MY MACBOOK IS MADE BY APPLE. IT WAS DESIGNED IN CALAFORNIA AND ASSEMBLED IN CHINA. MY NOTEBOOK IS A COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK. IT WAS MADE IN BRAZIL

Thinking globally, acting locally, It a very important phrase that we cover today in class. What is thinking globally, acting Locally? This is when we do something locally and if everyone in the world contributes locally they it will be a worldly event. An example of this is global warming. When we drive or use a car it release harmful gases that harm our eviorment and contribute to global warming. We have to go to the store every week to buy food and groceries for our family. The idea is that if we grow our own food then maybe it will decrease in the amount of gases emitted from our cars by driving to the store.  Because there are less gases emitted Global warming will decrease a bit but its only a small little step in to stoping a major global event like that. After that we talked about the voting age. Mr. Shick thinks that the voting age should be 16 because when people are elected they sometimes have different views or want to change college tuition. I would love for this to b...

Today in class went to the website for the CIA. There the CIA Has this thing called the factbook. This is a web page that has lots of information on every single country in the world. Each of the people in the class had to pick a country and find in important or interesting fact on that country. I choose North Korea to find a interesting fact about them. My fact was that at the age of 17 you must join the army. Males for ten years and females till they are 23. Everyone came up with a fact and a fact someone came up with was that the Bahamas is the biggest drug stop for the US, This means that the Drugs being brought into the US , the biggest stop . or break in the trip is the Bahamas.

Today we had a pop quiz. I wasn't ready for this and I didn't do as well as I thought I did. I hate pop quiz's because you dont get time to study. In my eyes this is not fair because Like me some people need a quick review before a test. This quiz dropped my grade from a 96 to a 93. These grads are my future and I was not happy to find out that I had a test this morning that I didn't know about. I am a good student and I am paying attention in class all the time. Other than that we talked about the population of a country. We found out that a country's size doesn't always show you if they are supper populated or not. India is the second most populated country in the world and it is much smaller than other countries that are less populated than it. Then we got a map and we had to label on it the top 25 countries. This activity was teaching us where the most populated countries in the world are. In the next classes we will probably be learning more about other co...

We talked about cultural regions. This is when geographers use people and there culture to categorize different places around the world. Geographers use different thing like language, Food, religion, Beliefs, And marital traits. This is another way of Identifying places as I have explained other methods of identifying places in my previous blogs. Geographer use all of these different identifications to explain different places to different people. Lets talk about culture. It comes from the latin word cultus which means which means to care for. This can means two things. To care about something is to adore or worship something. To care about something is to nurse or looks after something. These are the to meanings about caring for something. These were the the things we covered today.

8/5/17

Today we talked about time and the many things involving time. The first thing that we talked about was the circadian cycle. This is your bodies internal clock that tells you when you tired and when you need to get up. We also talked about how time over the world is different for all places. If you lived in the USA and you went over to Europe for two weeks, for the first week you circadian cycle would be different and change. This would affect your energy level and mess up your sleeping schedule. We also talked about how time began. It was identified or created by a man named Sandford Flemming. He had the idea of one big clock the would be the same for the entire world. This clock would be located at the center of the earth.

8/4/17

Today we coved and finished our region assignment. In this assignment we looked at a political map of the U.S. over the span of three years{three maps}. Next we divided these states into democratic and republican depending on what the overall or average vote was for that state. Next We dived these states into regions or places like "north western" or "south eastern". Next we dived these places into physical regions like "Sun belt" or " Rocky Mountains" This assignment taught us some of the grouping techniques and how to group places by region, Political preferences, Area, or physical attributes. Then we presented or shared one of our regions with the class and then we had a small discussion about identifying regions and physical attribute.

8/3/17

Today we went over Regions and cultural landscapes. This is another part of Human Geo World regions and Thinking geographically. Those are the categories for the next unit in my human geo class. A region is an area of earth defined by one or more distinct characteristics. You could say new York city could be a region because of it historically and tourist areas. Another example of a region could be like out west where there are lots of mountains and canyons. Next we have Cultural landscapes. A cultural landscapes is the combination of physical and human characteristics that uniquely define places and areas. An example is New York(again). And example of a human characteristics would be the statue of liberty and a physical characteristic would be how New York is surrounded by water. That covers Region and Cultural Landscapes and now i will cover and important Quote mister shick stated today. "The designation of a region can be lager than a point but smaller that the planet. This is...
