Today in class we took and ancient Greece test and I thought that I did pretty good ion it. Some of the stuff sounded so similar and some questions were a little confusing but I think that I got them. I can't wait for spring break. There was this one question on the test that I didn't remember learning. It was the wisdom lover one. I didn't remember learning that but its whatever. I hope I did well.

Today in class we took more notes Hellenistic culture in Alexandria. Alexandria was named after Alexander the great. He was a great general who went undefeated his whole life. He became king at the age of 20. He defeated the Persians and then the Indians. He named a city in the middle of Asia after himself. He later died at the age of 32 of a fever. This city was filled with knowledge and philosophy. There were many philosophers who lived there and had their opinions about the solar system. On though that the earth was the center of the universe and his name was Ptolemy. Another said that the sun was 300 times bigger than the earth. These discoveries fulled the culture in the area and made people really think about the world around them.

Macedonia was located north of Greece and had a rough terrain and climate Macedonians were a rough people who lived in mountainous villages instead of city-states They were looked down upon by the Athenians. Alexander the great became a king at the age of twenty years old He trained from a young age learning how to use a sword, ride a horse, and control an army He learned science geography and literature under the famous teaching of Aristotle Alexander wanted to complete his father's mission of invading Persia and conquering all of its lands Alexander started his invasion by taking out the first fleet of Persia's army After that many, more troops came and Alexander was outnumbered He won the second invasion by outsmarting the large troop and going straight for the king which resulted in th...

Today in class we watched on presentation and then we basically got a study hall. The presentation we watched was pretty good and it looked like the kid put in some work. After that, we looked at pictures of Mr. Schick's dogs. They looked like happy dogs. Other than that we got out of school early and that was good.

Today in western civ we read three to four pages in our textbook about Alexander the great. It was very interesting to see how someone as young as twenty could lead an entire army and eventually take of Persia and King Darius. Here are the notes that I took on Alexander the great. Today in west civ I watched one presentation and then I presented myself. I thought the presentation that I watched was pretty good. It was very informational and I enjoyed watching it. The kid I watched knew his facts and was very well delivered. When I presented I chocked up a bit but I thought that did pretty well as a group. Mr. Schick really liked the Trireme that we built. other then that today was a good day.

Today in western civ we watched presentations regarding out ancient greece project. Today to presentations were good but not as good as yesterday. today we watched a couple presentations on pottery, ancient Greek civilization. The project on ancient Greek civilization was pretty good but the group had trouble delivering the presentation. They knew their facts and had a very good knowledge of everything in their presentation but just didn't really deliver. The other group was totally awesome until the end. One of the girls in the pottery presentation went on and on about the different Greek stories and to me, it looked like she lost everyone's attention.

Today in western civ we watched the presentations on ancient Greece and they were pretty good. The first presentation was on Greek food and it was incredible. The group of girls that worked on the project did amazing and made some amazing food. The next group did their project and ancient warfare and the types of weapons they used. they did a pretty good job but they lacked information in my opinion. The last group did their project on the ancient Olympics and it was pretty good. They had lots of detail and facts. Overall the projects were pretty good.

Today in class we continued to work on our ancient Greece project and it has come along very well so far. We have finished our power point and just finished the paper on Thursday. The last thing that we have to do is build a model of a trireme out of popsicle sticks. I plan to work on the model this weekend so that it will be ready for Monday's class when we present our project.

Today in class we continued to work on our ancient Greece project. Today got a lot done we wrote the entire draft of our paper and are currently looking over it to see how we can make it better. We also fixed a couple of things in the power point changed the font and tried to make it look as nice as possible. Here are some of the things that we mentioned in our paper. The trireme was an ancient vessel and type of galley that was used by the civilizations of the Mediterranean, especially the Phoenicians, ancient Greeks, and Romans. The trireme was used to destroy enemy ships The trireme was and an oar-driven warship that was powered by about 170 oarsmen.

Today in Western Civ we finished the last minute of our crash course video about philosophy. It was a very interesting video because it really makes you think about life and the questions inside of life. some of the questions that were asked were: Do I owe anything to live? What is my purpose here? Do I live after I die; before?  After that, we worked on our project. My group is doing the Trireme and so far we have started our power point. We are planning to build a model of the boat bigger then the one Mr. Schick has so that we can get a really good grade. Here are some of the facts that we have so far on our power point presentation. The inside of the vessel was built out of softwoods such as pine, fir, and cypress The triremes most effective weapon was the bronze sheathed battering ram . The battering ram rarely would sink the enemies ship so boarding the ship was the second way to take out their enemy The construction of a trireme took around 6,000 man-days of la...
