Today we Read a couple of passages from our western civ book while two other students finished their tests. I got an 87 on my test and it is a little disappointing considering that I studied very hard and took very good notes in my blog. I hope to do better on my next test. But Mr. Schick if you're reading this I would like to suggest this: I think that there should be more assignments on a daily basis. What I mean is that the only thing we seem to do in class is taking notes for the test and Blogs and tests are the only things in the grade book. Maybe add a worksheet about Alexander the great where we have to go into the book and find information. Something that will give those a chance with suffering grades to bring them back up. Other then that here are some of the notes that I took regarding the passages that we read. The Fall Of Roman Empire- Economy suffered from inflation. A drastic drop in the value of money coupled with the raise in prices. Diocletian was a...

Today we took a test on Ancient Rome and it was pretty easy because it was an open blog test. The open blog tests are always easy cause I usually get 100% on the blogs except for a few times. Its basically is a reward for taking good notes and always being on top of your school work. Other than that we read three sections from the book and one of them was the fall of the Roman empire.

Today in class we continued to prepare for our test on thursday. Today in the power point we talked about a bunch of the Roman emperors. Most lived out their lives peacefully but there were also a lot of bad emperors who were assassinated or murdered to be taken out of office. Nero was one of the very bad ones. His stepfather was poisoned by his mother so that her son could take his place in office. When he got into office he was a terrible leader and the only thing he seemed to care about was how the Roman empire looked he didn't care about how well the Roman empire ran but only how it looked. Before him, his father Claudius ruled. Claudius had a limp and studdered a lot so it was kinda hard to imagine him as one of those super inspirational people. He ruled very well and help make the Roman empire run better and be more efficient but he was later poisoned by his wife so that his stepson could come rule the empire.

Today in class Mr.schick made up a song about the chapter. The song was very creative and I thought it was so cool that Mr. Schick came up with it all. It talked about Rome and all of the politicians and leaders that got involved with the Roman empire. Other than that we covered to power point and talked about Julius Ceaser's death. He was killed by the Senate of Rome. They killed him by luring him into the Senate and stabbed him to death. After his death, his distant nephew took controlled and proclaimed himself dictator of Rome by taking out all of his competition. He ended up being a real uncorrupt leader who did right by Rome.

today in class we talked about the punic wars. THere were three of them and each one was very different from the other regarding strategy and fighting teqnics. The wars were fought between Rome and Carthage. The first war was a naval battle in the medderterainian sea which Rome won because they were bigger and better than Carthage. The second war the Carthaginians tried to cut off all trade with Rome and then eventually when they were weak attack the actual city of Rome but the Carthaginians never actually got to the city. The third and last war was Rome attacking Carthage and getting rid of them for good. They completely wiped them out.

today in class we took notes on the government inside of Rome. We talked about the three branches of government back in Roman times and in today's world. For the executive branch, Rome had to consuls who each had one-year terms and had veto power. The united states has the president who serves a four-year term and can veto proposed laws. The legislative in Rome has a Senate of 300 people who were aristocrats and served a lifetime term. .The united states has a Senate of 100 people who serve six-year terms. The judicial for Rome has praetors who are chosen by the centuriate assembly and they serve one-year terms. The united states has the supreme court who has nine members and they serve a life sentence and are appointed by the president.

Today in class we continued our slides presentation and learned about Tarquin and his family. Because of Tarquins son trying to rape a respected woman in Rome, the Tarquin family was banished from the Roman throne forever. In time, the Romans got rid of kings and replaced them with two consuls. Consuls were elected official who were aristocrats. They stayed in office for a term of one year so that if they weren't very good at their job the people of Rome could get a new person to do the job. In the fifth century a new group rose up and tried to end the aristocratic dominance in the government of Rome and that was the plebians. They were the everyday regular people who wanted a say in what happened in the Roman government.

Today in class we reviewed some of the notes that we had taken in the previous class. These notes covered ancient Rome and its first inhabitants. When Rome first became a place, Three different groups came there to try and take it over for their own control. These three groups were the Greeks,.The Greeks set up many colonies along the medderteranian sea and had a flowing economy of trade going on. THis allowed the Greeks to effectively get thing from other places that could give them a disadvantage over their epponent. BY THE WAY. I WILL NOT BE IN  CLASS TOMMOROW BECAUSE I HAVE A LACROSSE GAME AND WILL BE LET OF OF SCHOOL AT 1:45.

Today in class we took notes on the Roman empire in its early day while two other students were finishing a test. In the early days of Rome, Thre different groups arrived in prehistoric times and fought during 1000 BC to 500 BC to claim control and power over all of the land of Greece. The Greeks established colonies near the sea from 750 BC to 600 BC.
